We are the Women’s Wall Project. We hope to bring together educators who have used the Wall methodology with people who are interested in using it for the first time. We share a commitment to raise awareness and promote effective action to create a world economy that values women’s labour. We believe a gender analysis is key to effectively challenge globalization and develop alternatives based on equity.
Bev Burke and Suzanne Doerge (educators living in Canada) and Montserrat Fernández Piñón (an educator living in Nicaragua) coordinate the Women’s Wall Project and this website. Bev and Suzanne are co-creators of the methodology. They wrote and published facilitator guides in English and French in 2000. Montserrat and Suzanne co-authored the Spanish guide which was co-produced with Puntos de Encuentro in Nicaragua in 2004.
The Women’s Wall Project is more than three women. Many educators and activists have used the Wall both at the community level and between people of different regions and countries. It has been used by academics and by women with limited literacy skills. All of these experiences have contributed to strengthening the Wall and are represented on this website.
We welcome you to join us by using the tools available in the facilitator guides and posted on this web site. You may copy and adapt any materials found here, as long as credit is always given to the authors of both materials and graphics.
If you are designing a facilitator’s training, you may choose to develop the programme yourself or contact us. Production of a facilitator’s guide adapted for your sector may be possible pending negotiation with the co-authors.
We also wish to thank the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC), the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), Public Services Alliance of Canada (PSAC), and Public Service International (PSI) for helping to fund this website. They continue to be an important part of this project.
